The American Heritage Dictionary defines leadership as the capacity or ability to lead. In theory, leadership is the art of influencing people in such a manner as to achieve a desired outcome. Furthermore, the art of leadership is learned and it begins with a conscience decision to influence others. We are all born with an innate ability to receive, analyze, recall, and apply information which in essence is the learning process. This natural process of learning serves as the precursor for formal and informal leader development. The process of becoming a leader is an essential aspect of human development that parallels the process of learning. Leaders therefore are adept in the tradition of continuous growth and development. Who we become as leaders depends chiefly on how we respond to the various influences introduced into our learning processes.

ReplyDeleteMy responsibility as a leader is to develope my skills. I would develop my leadership skills with new experiences, and knowing how to work as part of a team. Although I would be part of a team I would have to know how to take charge. Bottom line leadership is a working process.
ReplyDeleteLeadership is defined by the people around us and the situations we get put threw. When problems arise, a leader is able to make others see the way he/she views the situation. In the end, a leader is able to convince others and take responsibility when it is needed.
ReplyDeleteLeadership can be taught to anyone but true leadership can only be captured from within yourself. For myself I had to try and change who I am due to myself being quiet. I realize to be the best leader sometimes you must give this that can hold you back.

ReplyDeleteI believe leadership goes back to the four winning colors. In order to be a an effective leader, you must understand your primary color in order to influence others to accomplish a mission. For example, Since I'm a "Brown" Builder, I deal with being in charge and that shows, because im apart of brigade staff.
ReplyDeleteTo me leaders encourage others to be better than they are. Like my old naval science instructor. He wanted us to give it our all. Good leaders become good by watching other leaders and trying to do what they did better.

ReplyDeleteThe Art of Leadership is a PROCESS that depends on the person. That process may take some more time than others, and for others, that process is never ending. So basically in order to become a leader, one has to work at it, by learning and experiencing new things everyday, and not giving up.

The more education a person has, the larger the capability the person has to be a better leader. this means that we can accomplish more tasks in an efficient manner with more education, and so our lives should be a never ending learning process.
ReplyDeleteLeadership starts with you as a person. You have to develope leadership skills and just have some type of knowledge and confidence in what you do as a person. In order to be a leader just work hard and strive for the better.

ReplyDeleteTo be a leadership you have to show that you are capable of leading. And you have to be respctful to yourself, as well as others. Plus, you have to be ready to face any challenges that comes your way.

ReplyDeleteTo be a leader you have to have alot of responsibilty and be able to learn more to get ahead of the cadets below you so you can lead them and in the process giving them more experience and a chance to have a leadership position.
ReplyDeleteNo matter who you are, no matter how shy you can find yourself to be, despite fear of failure, we all have qualities of a leader. Some more than others, but we all share that similarity. We all have equal potential to do and be whatever and whoever it is that we wish to achieve. From day one, we all start from scratch. Realize who you can be and act upon that knowledge (which is knowledge you don't learn at school or from others, Sonja and Max.) Don't back down from any challenge. Fear is mind over matter. Set your mind to achieve your highest goals and don't settle for anything less.

ReplyDeleteMost times to be a leader you still have to be a follower no matter what people say. People need to follow in the steps of other leaders that came before you or do better than them.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how old you are you still have the ability to show leadership quality.Young can lead the elder or elder can lead the young same as it doesn't matter what let level you are. Everyone has the ability to lead in whatever they do.
